Hi, I’m Karen. Thanks for steppin’ into my kitchen!
I am a home cook who gets to cook for an amazing husband and two great kids, Luke and Julia. Besides being in the kitchen a lot, I’m also in front of my computer, in the seat of my car (driving my kids somewhere), or in a classroom.
I have a lot of part-time jobs, not all of them paying. I substitute teach in elementary schools, I’m an administrative assistant for a big company (known for its baby shampoo), a campus minister for an awesome Christian Fellowship at UC Riverside, and stay-at-home mom.
The only thing I do full-time is love my family, food and Jesus! I love to watch TV shows about food, read food magazines and of course try out new recipes.
All of the food I cook is made right in my kitchen and many times is eaten right after a couple of photos are taken. I’m sportin’ a Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR with a EF-S 18-55 mm IS lens. I have a lot to learn about food photography, so please bear with me!
For me, the best thing about cooking and baking is watching the faces of people who are eating my food…….pure satisfaction. I hope you get some satisfaction out of my site and makes you want to cook or bake too!!
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Karen, I couldn’t see an email to drop you a line, so I hope you see this. How do you feel about having your posts pinned on Pinterest? We’d like to pin this one https://kareninthekitchen.wordpress.com/2012/04/20/strawberry-shortcake-skewers/ to our boards, but we like to do the right thing and check when there isn’t a pin button on a website. Cheers, Australian Good Taste magazine.
AGT,
Oh, that’s totally fine! Thanks for checking with me first. 🙂
Hi Karen! I’ve just recently come across your blog, kind of by accident, & have already made numerous dishes. They are amazing! Simple, flavorful and delicious! I’m not the best cook but still need to make 3 healthy meals, 5 days a week for my family and your blog have been a blessing!! Love it, thank you so much for sharing! Looking forward for more to come!
Rose,
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad that some of recipes have made it to your family’s table. I will continue to share recipes as I cook for my family too!
Just found this amazing site
Thank you Beth!
Do you have a Facebook? I absolutely love your blog. Welcome Home sent me.
No, I do not have a FB site linked to my blog, just a personal one. Thanks so much!
Karen! Dear sister in Christ! I was looking for the rotel, canned tomato salsa recipe and found it here! Please forgive me for being so nosy, but you look so much like my dear daughter-in-law. Are you Chinese!. My son and ddil live in Taiwan. I miss them sooooooo much. I’m an old white great-grandma. I live in Washington state. I have 7 kids, 7 grands, a cutie patootie greatgd and my youngest son and ddil (Taiwan) are having their first baby. May I impose and ask prayers for the salvation of all my family and my new grand baby who will be here in Oct. My ddil, Elsie, doesn’t know much of anything about Christianity. You are beautiful, like her. Your dh and children are so blessed to have you! God bless you all!
Tacy Caudle
Tacy, I am Chinese. In fact, I was born in Taiwan and my husband is Caucasian too! What a small world. My kids are 12 and 10. Thank you for all your sweet words. I definitely will keep Elsie and your new grand baby in my prayers. I understand your desire to have your family come to know The Lord. The most important thing that we can do is pray for them and also live a life that shows the love of Jesus. God bless you up there in beautiful Washington!!
